Has been called "The Beverly Hills of Costa Rica" because the assorted real estate, quality services, and great weather, breathtaking mountains views and cosmopolitan combination of high-rise condominiums, fine homes & estates, ambassadors´ homes, elegant hotels, and standard local housing.
The town is surrounded by select shopping malls, cinemas, restaurants, nightlife and much more. Its strip has won the reputation of the famous "Gold Mile of Costa Rica" because the main brands and franchises are present there: MacDonalds, KFC, Tony Roma´s, TGF, Rolex, etc. It is a good mix between the Costarican lifestyle and the American confort.
There are many small villages scattered around the Canton. Some of them are
mostly commercial, like San Rafael; others are centers of population but
agricultural, like San Antonio; some are undergoing demographic changes, like
Guachipelín. The rest of the small villages are agricultural and rustic. There
are some neighborhoods where the residents are predominantly foreigners ,
because this beautiful area
has attracted people from North America, Europe and Asia.
The Weather in Escazú, Costa Rica, is close to perfect with mild temperatures between 75 and 85 Degrees ALL YEAR ROUND, and lots of sunshine. No wonder even the Ambassador of the US has chosen his residency in Escazu.! Jaguar and Volvo are building their offices in Guachipelin:
Escazú was originally a crossroads on trails between Indian villages and the Indians found it a good place to spend the night on their journeys and gave it it's name, "Izt-kat-zu", which means "resting stone" Spanish settlers were also attracted to Escazú where they settled in the hills and began farming.
